Creating a Baby Nursery
1. Crib BeddingThe Crib Bedding is the item that the whole nursery will be built around, so make sure it is something you and your new baby will love! There are so many different colors and designs of Crib Bedding on the Baby Market Today, most Crib Bedding Sets also have matching items that are sold separately- Mobile, Hampers, Diaper Stackers, Lamp Shades, etc. Take a look at the Crib Bedding link listed at the bottom of this article for Crib Bedding Ideas.
TIP: White paint is too settle, and quite boring!
3. Shop for Baby Furniture
First, make sure write down the measurements of the room on a piece of paper. Make sure you have the measurements with you when shopping locally. If you choose to shop online, make sure you have these close by to make sure everything fits accordingly. Nursery Collections today usually include- Crib, Changing Table, and Dresser. The Gliders/Rockers and Crib Mattresses are usually sold separately, however, I would suggest purchasing them from the same retailer so you can be sure it matches with the other furniture purchased.
TIP: While shopping for a Crib, remember a Standard crib is less expensive and is generally used from birth to 1 year old. The Convertible Cribs are more expensive, but more cost efficient. They convert to Toddler Beds, and then Full Size Beds. The Convertible Cribs are used throughout entire childhood- from birth to teenage years. Lighting is a key element in every room, and you have many different options to consider. A Traditional Lamp on the Dresser is inexpensive, and you can usually get a matching lamp shade that coordinates with your crib bedding. Next, Ceiling Fans with Lights is always an option. There are many ceiling fans on the market today that are fun, and kid friendly. If you are going for a more dramatic look, consider purchasing a Chandelier. There are so many different styles and colors to choose from. Chandeliers are more pricy, but they add elegance to a room that other lighting fixtures can’t compare to. Since all the Furniture is in its place, now you can decide if you want to add anything to the walls. To personalize the bedroom, you can add fun wood letters creating their name on the wall. That’s an inexpensive, but decorative option. There are also wall decals available that you can stick on the walls that easily can be removed without damage to paint. If you know someone that is creative, hand painting on walls can make a nursery unique and fun!
Storage is essential in every child’s room. If you have a closet available there are plenty of reasonable priced storage racks for the closet. If you don’t, there are many options to choose from, like- Storage Totes that can be placed on top of dressers or on the changing table shelves. Storage Racks with Cubes that can be kept in the room or inside the closet, or Storage Benches, and Toy Boxes that are multi-functional. Babies need a lot of gear! Be sure you have safe and proper storage for everything!
The Nursery is almost complete; you just need to add some final touches. First, make sure the crib bedding and baby clothing are washed (preferably with baby laundry detergent) and then put on the Crib Bedding and Mobile. Organize clothes and baby accessories in storage areas. Set up diaper changing area, and make sure the main baby monitor is located close enough to the crib to ensure connection clarity.
8. Pack your Hospital Bag! Your Nursery is complete and you’re ready for your new arrival!
